THYPOCH - ADAPTERS

M Mount Positive Lock Adapter

The Thypoch Positive Lock Adapter: The Last Puzzle of the M Mount Eco System

Traditional M mount adapters lack a true locking mechanism, often revealing stability issues in professional film production. Inspired by cinema-grade adapters, the Thypoch positive-lock M-mount adapter brings new creative potential to a classic system, offering a more secure connection for M lenses in dynamic shooting scenarios.

Thypoch adapters cover a wide range of mounts including M to E, L, Z, RF, and ARRI, supporting multi-system use from mirrorless cameras to professional cinema rigs. They easily fit major mirrorless systems like Sony, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, as well as cinema cameras such as RED and ARRI.

Now you can use your Simera-C (M mount) lenses on all major camera brands.
Thypoch adapters fully support all Thypoch M-mount lenses, including the Simera-C, Simera and Eureka series, and are compatible with most M-mount lenses available. This allows classic lenses to integrate seamlessly into modern cinematic workflows. Precision manufacturing allows creators to switch gear freely without compromising image quality or performance, opening up new creative possibilities.

M Mount: The Bridge to All Cameras

Introduced in 1954 with the Leica M3, the M mount features a compact design and short flange distance of just 27.8mm, making it ideal for high-quality, portable lenses. Its mechanical precision and adaptability have kept it relevant across film and digital eras. Today, it remains a core mount in photography and is increasingly used in cinema applications due to its versatility and classic image rendering.

With a short flange distance of just 27.8mm, the Leica M-mount offers exceptional adaptability. Like the PL mount, it can be easily converted to fit the vast majority of camera systems available on the market today—ranging from mirrorless cameras to professional cinema rigs. This high level of compatibility gives creators the freedom to switch between platforms with ease, while maintaining optical performance and compact form factor. The M mount is not just a legacy—it’s a forward-thinking solution for modern image makers.

Can M Mount Replace PL in the Future of Cinema?

M-mount enables more compact, lightweight lens designs, with better wide-angle performance and setups that are half the size of traditional PL systems. The only drawback was the lack of a positive lock—until now.

The new Thypoch M Adapter solves that, making active-lock M-mount cine setups possible. Thypoch believes M mount has the potential to become the next standard in cinema.

With the Thypoch adapter, M mount lenses can be used on most cinema cameras available today. Its active-lock design ensures a secure and stable connection—even when using professional follow focus systems.

THYPOCH - CINE LENSES

SIMERA-C | 21,28,35,50,75mm | M & E Mount

The Simera-C lenses are T1.5 Cine lenses. They share the same optics formula as the existing Simera photo lens, so they carry the same image quality and character. To achieve a more circular bokeh effect, the lenses have been increased to 16 iris blades instead of 14 blades used for the Simera photo version. Furthermore, Simera-C's optical formula is optimized based on the legendary Leica Summilux. This allows you to achieve an almost identical look to the 50K Euro Leitz Cine lenses for just 800 Euros with Simera-C.

Key Features Simera-C T1.5 Cine Primes

  1. 5 focal lengths of 21mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm and 75mm.
  2. Consistent T1.5 aperture with 16 iris blades.
  3. Weighing 353-491g, ideal for car rigs, handheld, and gimbal shots.
  4. Available in M/E mounts, highly compatible with mirrorless and cinema cameras.
  5. Minimal chromatic aberration and sharp resolution.
  6. Dual focus scales in Metric and Imperial.
  7. Easy to carry on the go with a supplied hard case. A full case with 5 lenses is small and light enough to fit a cabin-sized suitcase, and is completed with a supplied shoulder strap for convenient carrying.

The Simera-C full-frame lenses, ranging from 28mm, 35mm, 50mm to 75mm (with an additional 21mm in the future), can handle most kinds of shooting situations.  Equipped with a 16-blade iris and a uniform fast aperture T1.5, these lenses effortlessly produce unparalleled spatial visual impact, enhancing the immersive quality of the imagery.

The Simera-C Look

Simera-C delivers a very neutral look with a tint of softness, smooth bokeh and natural edge fall-off for exceptional dimensionality in storytelling, capturing a raw aesthetic with minimal chromatic aberration and human-eye-like field curvature. Flare is subtly controlled to maintain highlight detail without compromising the image's authenticity.

The floating element design of the Simera-C series allows for a closer minimum focusing distance than most modified cine-mod rangefinder lenses, providing almost identical quality at close focus and infinity, greater texture and detail in close-ups and enhancing creative flexibility.

The Compatibility of M Mount

While the E mount is perfect for the Sony mirrorless cameras, the M mount version of Simera-C opens the way to all mirrorless and digital cinema cameras. Here is why M mount holds the future.

  • The M mount cine lenses rival PL mount in flexibility, seamlessly fitting almost all mirrorless cameras (E, RF, Z, L, and X mounts) and cinema cameras (such as ARRI, Sony Venice) via adapters.
  • The exceptional compatibility of M mount makes it easy to work with everything from entry-level mirrorless cameras to high-end cinema rigs like DJI Ronin 4D, Sony Venice, ARRI, and more.
  • The M mount is more versatile in nearly every aspect compared to the PL mount, though many people aren't fully aware of this. This is mainly because few manufacturers have considered the versatility of the M mount and didn't develop serious lenses for this mount. Currently, the main options for M mount cine lenses are Cooke SP3, Leitz M0.8, and Simera-C.

Simera 28mm & 35mm Now With Focus Tab

Thypoch’s debut lenses, the Simera 28mm & 35mm f/1.4, first launched in 2023, made waves with their fusion of retro aesthetics and modern optical engineering. Now, Simera 28mm and 35mm ASPH type ii are available with a crescent-shaped focus tab, offering an enhanced user experience.

These new versions, compatible with Leica M, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, and Canon RF mounts, replace the infinity-lock mechanism with an ergonomic focus tab, enabling smooth, single-finger focusing.

The Simera series is one of the very few M mount lenses designed with floating groups, which ensure identical performance from infinity to close focus. Now with a focus tab, the whole lens mirrors very well the latest Leica Summilux 28mm and 35mm lenses, ensuring precise control and optical quality.

What’s Different?

The only major difference between the two versions is the focusing mechanism and price:

  • Type i (Infinity-Lock Version): Enhances stability by preventing lens rotation during installation, ensuring secure handling (639 EUR).

  • Type ii (Focus-Tab Version): Ergonomically designed for a comfortable grip, enabling smooth, single-finger focusing for seamless operation (729 EUR for Simera 28mm f/1.4, and 709 EUR for Simera 35mm f/1.4).

The Simera 28mm ASPH has a minor appearance improvement on the rear part, which is slightly thinner than Type i, giving it a more streamlined, straight-line look.

Key Features

✔ 14-blade diaphragm for creamy bokeh and stunning starbursts.

Upgrading from Infinity Lock?

Thypoch does not recommend modifying an infinity-lock version to a focus-tab version. The process requires disassembling and recalibrating more than four internal components, which could compromise lens optical performance and mechanical stability. Therefore Thypoch does not offer conversion services for this reason.
